Manual Handling

Back injuries caused by handling are a major cause of occupational ill health in the UK.  However the risks can be minimised by:

• Eliminating the manual handling tasks; or where this is not possible
• Completing a risk assessment (known as a manual handling assessment); followed by
• Implementing controls to reduce the risks found. This can often be achieved by making workplace adjustments or implementing handling aids; along with
• Providing Manual Handling training to advise employees of the risks involved and correct technique when carrying out lifting or moving tasks.

We can assist by completing manual handling risk assessments on your behalf or by training your employees to complete the risk assessments themselves.
